Felipe Lavin's videographic work takes us on a hypnotic visual journey that captures the ever-changing essence of some of the contemporary great urban centers such as Berlin, New York, and Paris. Inspired by the iconic Law of Lavoisier, which posits that matter is neither created nor destroyed but only transformed, Lavin delves into the dynamic metamorphosis of these global cities. Through the lens from within the subway and a center of symmetry, the artist aims to prompt us to question gentrification, the absence of urban planning, and real estate speculation, demonstrating how these forces shape the face and identity of these urban hubs. The voracity of the real estate market has led to imbalanced developments and the marginalization of certain communities.

The artist uses the subway's movement as a metaphor for the constant transformation of these cities. Through shifts in perspective and the center of symmetry, Lavin reflects the duality between the convergence and divergence of urban realities, showcasing the intersection between history and modernity, wealth and marginalization.

Through the artist's unique perspective, we witness how these cities are in a constant state of evolution, influenced by social, economic, and political forces that mold their structure and character.

La obra videográfica de Felipe Lavin nos transporta a un viaje visual hipnótico que captura la esencia cambiante de algunas de las grandes urbes contemporáneas como Berlín, Nueva York y París. Inspirado en la icónica Ley de Lavoisier, la cual postula que la materia no se crea ni se destruye, sino que sólo se transforma, Lavin explora la dinámica metamorfosis de estas ciudades globales. A través de la mirada desde el interior del metro y un centro de simetría, el artista busca cuestionarnos sobre la gentrificación, la ausencia de planificación urbana y la especulación inmobiliaria, mostrando cómo estas fuerzas moldean el rostro y la identidad de estos centros urbanos. Donde la voracidad del mercado inmobiliario ha conducido a desarrollos desequilibrados y a la marginación de ciertas comunidades.

 

El artista utiliza el movimiento del metro como una metáfora de la transformación constante de estas ciudades. A través del cambio de perspectiva y el centro de simetría, Lavin refleja la dualidad entre la convergencia y divergencia de realidades urbanas, mostrando la intersección entre la historia y la modernidad, la riqueza y la marginalidad.

 

A través de la mirada particular del artista, somos testigos de cómo estas ciudades están en constante evolución, influidas por fuerzas sociales, económicas y políticas que moldean su estructura y carácter.
